Big Win—Our Advocacy is Working!

June 26, 2025

But we need to keep going!

A nonpartisan Senate official—the parliamentarian—ruled that some of the worst Medicaid cuts in the Republicans’ megabill can’t be passed using the fast-track budget process. That means proposed changes that would have slashed support for hospitals, cut care for undocumented people, and drained funding from disabled and low-income Americans are on pause—for now.

But let’s be clear: the bill is still alive. And behind closed doors, Senators are already rewriting it.

We can’t sit back.

This bill still threatens the programs millions of disabled people rely on to survive. Medicaid. Nutrition assistance. The very systems that help us live independently and contribute to our families and communities.

We need to flood the phones and inboxes of our Senators today.

Tell them:

  • We are watching.
  • We need real access—not budget cuts.
  • We won’t be ignored.

Your voice matters. Your story matters. Every call, every email, every tagged post adds to the power of the #YesAccess movement.

Here’s what to do.

  1. Call your Senators.
Find their phone numbers here: https://www.senate.gov/senators/senators-contact.htm
Say your name, your state, and why disability rights and access matter to you. You can keep it short. You can read from notes. Just call.
  2. Write or email your Senators.
Even a few sentences helps. Share how Medicaid or other programs have impacted your life. Or copy and paste this message:

I’m a constituent and I care deeply about disability rights and access. Please vote no on any bill that cuts Medicaid, nutrition assistance, or other supports disabled people rely on to live independently. We deserve a voice in every policy decision that affects us.

  1. Post on social media.
Tag your Senators. Use the hashtags #YesAccess #DisabilityWrites #ShareYourStory #Disability
Let’s make sure they hear us loud and clear.

Let’s make our voices impossible to ignore.

This is our chance. One bill can change everything—for better or worse.
