To everyone living with a disability — whether visible or not — these are difficult times. Our rights, our access, and our dignity are constantly under threat. But we are still here. And we are not going anywhere.
Disability doesn’t make us less American. We are veterans, workers, parents, voters, and neighbors. We contribute. We matter. And we belong in every space — not hidden away, not sidelined.
So what can we do?
We show up.
We remind the world we exist.

Go to the store. Run your errands. Laugh with friends. Go bowling. Order that steak. If you need support to do these things, ask your family, staff, or caregivers to help you get out there. Let people see you — not to inspire them, but to remind them that your life has value.
Let’s make ourselves visible — not just in public, but in policy, in media, and in decision-making rooms. Because the truth is, disability is not rare. It’s universal. Everyone is only temporarily abled.
This is not about pity or inspiration. This is about power.
And power doesn’t have to be loud or violent. True power comes from showing up with purpose. Speaking up with clarity. Leading by example — not hiding in the shadows.
Disability rights are not partisan. They’re human. So when you advocate — whether you’re pitching a policy, giving a speech, or leading a protest — speak in common sense terms. Remind people that supporting disability inclusion helps everyone. When our communities are more accessible, more compassionate, and more flexible, everyone benefits.
We have been underestimated. But that’s their mistake.
We were born resilient. We live with challenges every day — and still we rise.
They fear change. But we live it. They cling to comfort. But we adapt.
Disability is not a curse. It is a platform to demonstrate true strength and values.
So I ask you this:
If you were the Creator, would you send your strongest warriors to fight easy battles — or save them for the ones that truly matter?
This is our battle. And we are the ones who can win it.
Now is the time. Show up. Speak out. Lead with #YesAccess.
